We decided to purchase an outdated, small home in order to be near the water. We loved the area, but hated the layout and style of the house. We worked with Al, our builder, and renovated the entire property to transform a place we pretty much settleted on into a house that we love. The kitchen, bathrooms and even the yard have been improved. If we ever wanted to sell, I am more than confident I would get more than I paid for it.
